I am participating in the Run for Autism fundraiser and I need your help.
I am running 70km this October because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges in a world not designed for them.
I’m running towards a more accommodating and inclusive world where Autistic Australians have the opportunity to thrive.Â
Autism is not a disease. Autistic people are not broken. I am not broken. Autism is a neurotype, which means different not less. Autism can be disabling, often affecting my capacity to maintain my wellbeing, relationships or health. That does not mean I cannot do, but might mean I have a limited capacity.
There is strength in my Autism, a huge capacity for love, compassion, and special interests that allow me to express myself in a world that doesn't make sense to me.
This is part of my journey to learning and accepting and loving myself. And I want to help those like me to get the support they need to thrive.
