Ash Robinson

I’m joining the movement to Run for Autism. But I need your help.

Hi, I’m Ash!

I was diagnosed 4 years ago. It’s been a long, hard and confusing four years but it’s also been the most rewarding.

I’m raising funds to support autism awareness and acceptance, not just for me, but for everyone who’s ever felt like the odd one out in a world built for sameness. Being autistic is a core part of who I am. It's not always easy, things like small talk, bright lights, or change can feel like Olympic-level challenges. I have too many tabs open in my brain at all times, and eye contact is the worst thing in the world. Object permanence is my biggest enemy, if I can’t see something, it doesn’t exist. Ask me where my car keys are, or my office pass and I probably can’t tell you.

It’s exhausting but it's also filled with beautiful things like deep empathy, strong values, beautiful creativity and the ability to hyperfocus on the things and people I love. I can tell you almost anything about my favourite teams, music, animals and people. I can do weird things like look at a map and see it in my head forever. I can quote almost every episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine or the entire Cars film for no reason other than I love them.

My brain is wacky and weird but so wonderful, and I’m slowly learning to share it with the world. I used to think I had to hide parts of myself to fit in. Now, I'm starting to take up space as I am,  no filters, no masks. This fundraiser is part of that journey.

It’s about creating understanding, breaking down stigma, and building a world that celebrates neurodivergent minds,,not just tolerates them.

If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my overstimulated heart. If not, sharing this would mean the world. Every bit of support helps remind me that different doesn’t mean broken. It means brilliant.

Thank you Ash - what a great thing to do! As a fellow neurodiverse person, I care deeply about this and want everyone to have access to support. And now more than ever it seems extra critical to increase acceptance and raise awareness against all the misinformation about autism! Good on you!!
