Theo Berry

Day 15

💛💙 DAY 15 – AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! 💙💛

🚨 IT’S DOLLAR MATCH DAY! 🚨

Today, every dollar donated, up to $250, will be MATCHED by the incredible team at Ability Action Australia! 🙌

This organisation holds a special place in our hearts, as they travel all the way to Kangaroo Island to provide Theo with his Occupational Therapy sessions, an incredibly important part of his overall therapy and support.

We are so grateful for their generosity and their ongoing commitment to supporting families like ours in regional communities. 💛

So, if you’ve been thinking about donating but haven’t quite got around to it, TODAY IS THE DAY!

Your donation could go twice as far, helping us get one step closer to Theo’s goal of beating last year’s fundraising total!

🏃‍♂️ 15 days down, 75km completed and $3,041 raised!

Let’s make the most of this amazing opportunity and give Theo’s fundraising total a BIG boost today! 💪

Please donate if you can, and SHARE SHARE SHARE! Every dollar and every share makes a difference. 💙 #runforautism #runformentalhealth #autismawarenessmonth #aspectrunforautism #abilityactionaustralia

Day 14

DAY 14 – 70KM DOWN! 🏃‍♂️💙💛

Today’s update will be a short one, as Mumma and Papa Berry have both been struck down with Influenza A! 🤒

Theo has taken the lack of parental involvement in his stride this week and has really taken ownership of making sure his daily runs get done. It’s been lovely to see just how committed he is to this challenge, even without us cheering him along every step of the way! 💙

A very generous donation overnight (a HUGE thank you to the Lade family! 🥰) has officially pushed us over the $3,000 mark! 🎉

We’d absolutely love to keep this momentum going as we continue chasing our big goal of $7,000!

As always, if you’re able to spare a few dollars, every donation is so appreciated and helps Theo make a difference for other Autistic Australians. 💛

Day 13

💙💛 DAY 13 – 65KM DOWN! 🏃‍♂️

Yesterday saw us hit $2,700 in donations after a few generous contributions, and we’d absolutely love to keep that momentum going! Our next goal is to reach $3,000 by the end of the week, but we’ve still got our sights firmly set on raising over $7,000 this year and beating last year’s incredible total!

Theo ran home from the bus stop again today to tick off his daily 5km. He seems to be enjoying a bit of a sleep-in lately rather than heading out for his runs first thing in the morning!

Tuesdays are also Run Club days at school! 🏃‍♂️ Something Theo and a few wonderful teachers established late last term. It’s been a fantastic opportunity for other students to get moving and experience the benefits that physical activity can have on both our bodies and minds. Running has been such a positive outlet for Theo, so it’s lovely to see him sharing that with other kids at school.

Now for our daily plea… PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE donate if you haven’t already! 🙏💛

We’d really love to shift this fundraising momentum into a higher gear! Every donation, no matter how small, gets Theo closer to his goal and helps support Autistic Australians.

Let’s get to $3,000 by the end of the week! 🤞

💙💛 DONATE HERE IF YOU CAN:
https://runforautism.org.au/fundraisers/emmaberry/run-for-autism. #runforautism #runformentalhealth #autismawareness #aspectrunforautism

And please keep sharing Theo’s story! 💙

Day 12

DAY 12 UPDATE 🏃‍♂️💙💛

Day 12 was back to school for Theo!

Thankfully, he coped pretty well with the transition from holidays back to school and decided that today’s 5km would be spent running home from the bus stop — a journey he’s done many times before and often really enjoys.

He jumped off the bus with a spring in his step and set off for home! 🏃‍♂️

If you ask Theo how his day was, his favourite response is always “It was dull” 😂 But judging by his energy and overall mood this afternoon, I’d say he’s had a pretty great first day back!

Now, WE NEED DONATIONS! 📣💛

After a 24-hour slump in donations, we’re desperate to get some momentum back! Theo is determined to beat last year’s fundraising total, but we need your help to make it happen.

Even a few dollars makes a difference, and every donation gives Theo another little boost of motivation to keep going!

Please, if you can, DONATE and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! Let’s get this fundraiser moving again! 🙌

Day 11

DAY 11 – 55KM DOWN! 🏃‍♂️💙💛

Not much to report from Day 11 (which is always a good thing!).

Theo got his run out of the way relatively early this morning, and the rest of the day has been all about rest and recovery after a very late night last night, and preparing ourselves for the return to school tomorrow.

Sunday evenings can often be particularly tricky for Theo, with the anticipation and dread of school the following morning weighing heavily on him. We try our best to keep things calm and predictable at home and help him navigate those big feelings as they arise. 💙

On a brighter note, Theo got to watch a little shoutout video from one of his favourite cricket players today! 🏏 Can anyone guess who? 👀

I’m starting to run dangerously low on celebrity shoutouts, so if anyone has any connections, please hook me up! These little messages mean the absolute world to Theo and give him such a boost. 🙌

We had some lovely donations come through yesterday, bringing our total to $2,608! We’re so grateful, but we’d really love to keep that momentum going and see just how much we can raise for other Autistic Australians.

If you haven’t donated yet, please consider sparing a few dollars. Every donation makes a difference, and every bit of encouragement helps keep Theo going! 💛

Day 10

💙💛 DAY 10 – THE RUN THAT ALMOST DIDN’T HAPPEN! 🏃‍♂️

Today started on such a positive note, with Theo playing his first cricket game of the season (which, for anyone who has the privilege of knowing Theo well, is quite possibly more exciting than Christmas! 🏏😂).

The plan was simple: run the 5km home from the cricket club and tick off day 10. But as we know all too well, things don’t always go to plan.

After leaving cricket, Theo became incredibly upset and overwhelmed. What followed was 10 minutes sitting in the car in the middle of the road, before we eventually decided to call it a day and head home.

But even that wasn’t straightforward. Theo refused to get out of the car, eventually fell asleep, and we figured today’s run just wasn’t going to happen.

Then, in true Theo fashion, he woke up, snuck off without telling anyone and went and ran his 5km! 😂💙

And just like that, day 10 was done!

Some days are harder than others, and today was a reminder that while running is something Theo absolutely loves, navigating the rest of the day can be incredibly challenging.

50km down, 105km to go! 💪

With no new donations since our last post, a few donations or even some messages of encouragement in the comments would be especially welcomed right now. Theo gets such a boost from knowing people are following along and cheering him on, particularly on days like today. Every little bit of support really does make a difference! 💙💛

Day 9

💙💛 DAY 9 – 45KM DOWN! 🏃‍♂️

Not a huge amount to report today!

Theo was feeling a little groggy this morning after a massive few days of cricket and nine days of running, but he still got out and ticked off another 5km! 💪

Luckily for him, today has been a pretty relaxing one as we’ve made our way home to Kangaroo Island from Adelaide.

He’s really looking forward to being back in familiar surroundings and settling into his usual routine. 💙

We’ve now raised an incredible $2,234 and we’re slowly inching closer to last year’s fundraising total! Every donation, no matter how small, means so much to Theo and keeps him motivated.

If you’re able to spare a few dollars, we’d be so grateful! 💛

Thank you to everyone cheering Theo on! 💙💛

Day 8

🏃‍♂️ DAY 8 – 40KM DOWN! 💙💛

Despite a late night last night, Theo has a real spring in his step today! A huge boost in donations yesterday afternoon and the final day of his cricket clinic today have given him plenty to smile about! 🏏

He’s still absolutely loving getting up and running each morning, although he did tell me he might give afternoon running a go next week so he can enjoy a quiet morning every now and then! 😂

We’re sitting at $1,991 raised, so let’s get him over that $2,000 mark today! 🙌

Theo is absolutely desperate to beat last year’s fundraising total and raise as much as he possibly can to support other Autistic Australians. Every donation, big or small, means the world to him and keeps that motivation going!

💙 Please donate if you can, and keep sharing

Day 2

Day 2 💙🏃‍♂️

After an awful night’s sleep — something that can be all too common for autistic kids — and still dealing with a headache after a concussion earlier this week, Theo wasn’t feeling his best this morning.

But he still got out there and got the job done. Another 5km complete, bringing him to 10km! 💪

One thing that makes a HUGE difference to Theo throughout this challenge is seeing those donations come in. Even just a few donations each day gives him such a boost and helps motivate him to lace up his shoes again the next morning. 💙

If you’ve been thinking about donating, even a small amount would mean so much to Theo. Every donation reminds him that people are behind him while he takes on 155km this October for autism.

10km down. 145km to go! 💛💙                                                     Donate here 👇

Day 3

Day 3 💙💛

Today has been a really rocky one for Theo. Lots of tears, big emotions and struggles with emotional regulation. Getting through today’s 5km was going to take something pretty special…
So we pulled out the BIG guns 😂 and showed him a video from his absolute idol, Nedd Brockmann, giving him a shoutout and some encouragement. Safe to say, it was exactly what he needed. 🥹
And just like that… 15km down! 🏃‍♂️💙
Some days this challenge is about so much more than the running. 💛                                                                                          If you can, please consider donating — even a few dollars and seeing those donations come through gives Theo such a huge boost to keep going. 💙💛                                                    https://www.runforautism.org.au/fundraisers/emmaberry #runforautism #neddbrockmann #runningformentalhealthawareness

Day 4

Day 4 Update 💙💛

Did you know that over 80% of autistic people report experiencing chronic sleep disturbances? This can include difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, which can have a huge impact on health, behaviour and mood.

Last night was another sleepless one for Theo, but we wanted to start today on the right foot — so it was up and out the door running early! 🏃‍♂️ And what a difference it made. He finished his 5km and started the day in a much more positive mindset. 💙

We’ve also officially cracked $1,000 in donations! 🎉 We’re aiming BIG this year and would absolutely love to beat last year’s total.

Every donation, no matter the amount, means so much to Theo. Seeing those donations come through genuinely motivates him to keep putting one foot in front of the other — even on the sleepy days.

Day 5

Finally, Theo had a good night’s sleep last night — and it was VERY welcomed! 🙌💙

He set off early again this morning, as he much prefers to get up and get his run done before breakfast. Another 5km in the legs and another step closer to that 155km goal! 🏃‍♂️💪

Today, we want to take this fundraising up a notch, and we need your help…

SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! 📣

We want to get Theo’s fundraiser in front of as many people as possible. We’re getting a few donations coming in each day, which means so much to Theo — but we’re hungry for more! 💙

Even if you’re not able to donate, sharing this post could put it in front of someone who can. Every share and every donation helps keep Theo motivated to get out there and run his 5km every single day this October.

Please share far and wide, and if you’re able to donate, you can do so here 👇

https://runforautism.org.au/fundraisers/emmaberry/run-for-autism                                                                                                  #runforautism #runformentalhealth #autismawareness

Day 6

Day 6 💙💛 30km DONE! 🏃‍♂️

Theo woke up with a spring in his step this morning after blowing some coin on his favourite activewear brand yesterday 😂 (Come on, Under Armour… send this kid some clothes!)

He couldn’t wait to get out and smash out today’s 5km, especially because he’s off to the first day of a three-day cricket clinic today! 🏏 Cricket is another one of Theo’s great sporting loves, so he’s pretty pumped.

Sadly, we didn’t receive any donations yesterday, so we’d LOVE to get that tally moving again today. We’re currently at $1,181 — can we get Theo to $1,300 today?! 🤞💙

Every donation, no matter the amount, gives Theo such a boost and helps keep him motivated through this huge 155km challenge.

Please donate if you can, and SHARE SHARE SHARE to help spread the word about Theo’s amazing effort! 💛

Day 7

Day 7 💙 One full week! 🏃‍♂️

Theo is still absolutely on cloud nine. ☁️ After a full week of his running challenge and a full day at cricket yesterday, he is well and truly in his happy place. Running, sport, being active — these are the things that make him light up, and right now we’re getting to see so much of that happy, confident kid. 💙

But from a parent’s perspective, there’s a bittersweet feeling sitting underneath it all. As wonderful as it is seeing him thriving right now, I can already feel that little sense of dread creeping back in, knowing that soon we’ll be heading home, the holidays will end and school will begin again.

And with that comes the very real possibility of school refusal — the tears, anxiety, meltdowns and exhausting mornings that are incredibly hard on Theo, but also have a huge impact on our whole family.

It’s such a reminder that autism isn’t always visible in the happy photos. Right now, we’re soaking up seeing him doing what he loves and celebrating one whole week and 35km down! 🙌💙

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared or cheered Theo on. $1,231 raised so far — let’s keep it going! 💛💙

I’m joining the movement to Run for Autism. But I need your help.

Why am I running 70km this October? Because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges.

I’m running towards a more inclusive world where Autistic Australians have the opportunity to thrive.

Please donate now and show your support to my fundraiser.  You’ll be helping provide early diagnosis, autism-specific education, and critical research into mental health issues experienced by Autistic people so they can access the support they need to realise their different brilliant®.

You’ll also give me the motivation I need to log my kilometres as I go the distance throughout October. Donate now to show your support.

Thank you!
