Running for Hamish
My 6 year old son, Hamish, was diagnosed with autism well before his 3rd birthday due to a significant speech delay. We knew before this diagnosis that Hamish was a little 'different', so in some ways the diagnosis was almost a relief or validation of sorts.
Since then, we have worked hard with Hamish on his development in all aspects, however, it is very likely he will require consistent, lifelong support.
Organisations such as Aspect provide specialist schooling for children with autism. Unfortunately, in regional areas such as where we are located, no such school exists. I would like to assist Aspect to grow their reach in the hopes that one day regional locations are resourced as well as metropolitan locations, and kids like Hamish have an educational facility tailored to them no matter where they live.
