I’m joining the movement to Run for Autism. But I need your help.
Why am I running 70km this October?
The official reason is because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges.
But for me, it’s also personal.
I’ve experienced the autism journey from the perspective of a parent — the restless nights, the Googling, the overthinking and the mind spiralling straight to the worst-case scenario.
Will my child talk? Will they be okay? Will I live long enough to always be there for them? And when I’m not here one day, who will look after them?
It’s a huge mental load, and often one you carry pretty quietly while just getting on with life.
So this October I’m running 70km to raise money towards early diagnosis, autism specific education and research into the mental health challenges experienced by Autistic people.
Hopefully it helps make that journey a little easier for another family.
And, on a slightly less inspirational note, I’m also too fat and could probably do with running 70km anyway 🤣
If you can spare a few dollars, I’d really appreciate the support. It’ll go towards a great cause — and give me considerably less opportunity to pull out when October rolls around.
