70km for Hurley, Sunny & so many others!
This October, I’m taking on 70km for Run for Autism — for my two beautiful boys, Hurley and Sunny, and for so many others in the Autistic community.
Why 70km? Because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges.
And I’ll be honest — I’m definitely not a runner! I haven’t done much exercise at all for far too long, so 70km is going to be a real challenge for me. but I’ve got two very good reasons to start and if there was ever a reason to dig deep and push myself, it’s my boys.
Being mum to Hurley and Sunny has given me a whole new understanding of just how important awareness, acceptance, inclusion and opportunity really are.
I want my boys to grow up in a world where they are understood and accepted for exactly who they are. A world where their differences are embraced, their strengths are recognised, and they are given every opportunity to learn, grow, participate and thrive.
That’s why every km I run (or walk when the running gets a bit too ambitious! 😅) this October is about so much more than reaching 70km.
I’m doing it for Hurley and Sunny, but also for Autistic children and adults everywhere, and for the families who love, support and advocate for them every day.
Funds raised through Run for Autism help support early diagnosis, autism-specific education and critical research into the mental health challenges experienced by Autistic people, helping more people access the understanding and support they need to thrive.
So when my legs are tired and I’m wondering what on earth I signed myself up for, every donation, message of support and share will remind me why I started and help keep me moving towards that 70km.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly greatful. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing my page and helping spread awareness and understanding means a lot too.
For Hurley.
For Sunny.
And for so many more. 💙
Thank you for supporting me, and them, every step of the way.

Well done, Renee! We are so proud of you.
