What is Run for autism?

Join Run for autism virtual running event and challenge yourself - individually, with family and friends, as a team or a community. Run 40km, 80km, 120km or set your own goal. You can do it anywhere, at any time suitable for you. 

You can start tracking your training Ks now and then the actual challenge month is in October Tuesday 1st to Thursday 31st. Get active and raise funds to support children and adults on the autism spectrum.

Here's how to get involved:

  3. Spread the word! Share your page with family, friends, and colleagues and raise funds.

Where is Run for autism 2024?

Run for autism is a virtual running challenge so you can do it where ever you are located in Australia. You can walk, jog, run or roll the challenge! The choice is yours!

Are there costs to register?

The Run for autism challenge is FREE! We encourage you to make a personal donation to your fundraising page to kickstart your fundraising - it will also show you are committed to the cause and inspire others to donate to you.

How do I register?

When registration opens, click 'Sign up now' at the top of the page or here.

You'll receive weekly emails for fundraising support and a run HQ will be in touch before the event!

What are the benefits of getting involved in Run for autism?

Whatever distance you choose, you are bound to get fit and healthy, and feel amazing raising funds for the estimated 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum. By joining Run for autism, not only are you helping contribute towards early assessment and diagnosis, but you are enabling Autistic Australians to grow up with understanding and support.

Do I need to register again if I have taken part in Run for autism in previous years?

Yes, even if you joined us in previous Run for autism events, we kindly ask that you sign up again to our 2024 event. This is to ensure we have your correct address and contact details in case they have changed.

Do I have to run 40km or can I choose my own distance?

When you register you can set your own goal distance to suit your fitness level or ability or select 40km, 80km, 120km's to complete within the month of October.

How do I become a Community Champion?

Becoming a Community Champion can be a very rewarding way of being involved in Run for autism. We'd love for you to join us. 

You'll help us grow our community by promoting Run for autism to your networks, driving sign ups and supporting your fellow runners by offering encouragement, inspiration and tips.

Do I have to run?

Everyone is welcome to join this event, regardless of abilities. We understand that not everyone can run for their challenge, so please feel free to modify the activity to suit your needs.

Our goal is to ensure this challenge is a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you! If you're unsure about joining the event, it's a good idea to chat with your healthcare provider first.

How do I log my kilometres?

Remember the training kilometres you are now logging will be removed in the early hours of Tuesday morning on 1 October in time for your Run for autism challenge.  This means that everyone starts their challenge afresh!

You can manually add your training kilometres again if you wish.

How do I reset my fitness tracker for challenge month?

The training kilometres you log before 1 October will be removed in the early hours of Tuesday 1 October in time for the challenge. This means that everyone starts their challenge afresh!

Where does my fundraising go?

Your fundraising will help Autistic Australians to receive vital assessments, access nurturing autism-specific education, specialist therapies, adult community services and support Aspect to create a more inclusive future for the Autistic community. Is my donation tax-deductable?

Donations of $2 or more are eligible for tax deduction.

Will there be rewards for signing up and fundraising?

Your personal fundraising efforts will be rewarded so hurry and start sharing your fundraising page! Check out the Rewards page.

How do I update my fundraising goal?

Login to your fundraising page and go to 'Edit my page' - here you can change your Fundraising target and save by clicking 'Update details'.

How do I add cash donations to my fundraising page?

The easiest way is to bank the cash and then do an offline donation to your page, this way it will reflect on your page. It's easy to to do:

1. Login to your fundraising page - click 'My donations'

2. Add an offline donation and the donor's details so that they will receive a tax receipt. 

3. Make a credit card/paypal payment to your fundraising page.

Where do I find my tax receipt for my Facebook Fundraising donation?

After donating to Run for autism via Facebook fundraising, you'll receive an official donation receipt via email from Facebook's PayPal Giving Fund. This receipt confirms your donation to charity and specifies that you didn't receive any goods or services in return, and it is sent to the primary email address linked to your Facebook account.

Please note that Run for autism doesn't issue receipts for donations made through Facebook fundraising. If you have concerns about missing receipts, contact Facebook's help centre.

Why aren't my Facebook fundraiser donations showing up on my page?

Facebook donations are handled by a third party, so the donations will take longer to reflect on your Run for autism fundraising page. Rest asssured, they will show up! We thank you for your patience.

Why aren't my Instagram fundraiser donations showing up on my page?

The Run for autism event isn't set-up to support fundraising via Instagram. If you create an Instagram fundraising page, donations may take longer to appear on participants' pages. Rest assured, we'll manually ensure that any Instagram contributions are accurately reflected on your page, and we thank you for your patience during this process.

Can my Community or Team run the 40km, 80km or 120km as a combined effort?

Chosen Community or Team kms are based on each member in the team running that distance.

How do I join a Community or Team?

Getting active is much more fun when you do it with others! Motivate friends, family, workmates or your community to take on the Run for autism challenge with you.

I haven't received my welcome pack yet?

Once your welcome pack is shipped, you will receive a confirmation email that it's on its way.
Please check your spam or junk folders to ensure you don't miss it, and keep an eye out for the postman!

Can I purchase merchandise?

We are not currently selling Run for autism merchandise to participants and supporters. This decision helps us avoid mass production, supports our sustainability goals, lowers campaign costs, and allows more funds raised to go directly to our vital services.

I'm having issues syncing Strava/Garmin/FitBit activities to my page, how can I add my kms? 

If you encounter issues with syncing your page with Strava, Garmin or FitBit, we recommend a simple alternative and manually adding your kilometers to your dashboard.

To manually log your kilometers, please follow these steps:

  • Log in to your dedicated page
  • Navigate to your dashboard's 'My Fitness Activity'
  • Enter your kilometers manually
