get to know my boy
Ethan came crashing into this world 11 weeks early and wanting to make a statement that he was here and ready to make his mark! Being in the nicu for 90 long days was just the beginning. His first diagnosis was his hearing loss. The dr first put it down to having contracted an infection. A long and grooling year or tests and hospital visits later we finally got results and answers that he infact has a very rare genetic syndrome called S.H.O.R.T syndrome. This affects his hearing, his eye function and neruo function. It has given him a global delay, hypertension and adhd. His autism diagnosis was constantly put off by his doctors as there was no reason for the "label" due to the fact he was already on the ndis for his hearing therefore nothing would change. Once we finally broke the system to have him get the diagnosis he needed everything changed and things started becoming a little more easier in the way that he was able to be fit into the right school and the right classroom setting for his age and abilities. He was able to recieve more funded support and be welcomed into the vast and evergrowing autism community. At 8 years old Ethan is a firecracker! He is so energetic, extremely lovable, he never forgets, loves trains and building all kinds of structures with any building blocks or connex he can get his hands on. He will always say hi with a smile and always be the first one to help cheer you up. Ethan is my greatest achievement as he made me a mum. He is my best friend and I wouldn't change him for anything!I’m joining the movement to Run for Autism. But I need your help.
Why am I running 70km this October? Because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges.
I’m running towards a more inclusive world where Autistic Australians have the opportunity to thrive.
Please donate now and show your support to my fundraiser. You’ll be helping provide early diagnosis, autism-specific education, and critical research into mental health issues experienced by Autistic people so they can access the support they need to realise their different brilliant®.
You’ll also give me the motivation I need to log my kilometres as I go the distance throughout October. Donate now to show your support.
Thank you!
