Why I’m running 70 km this October

This October, I’m taking on 70 km to raise money for autism, but for me, this is about much more than running.

It’s about my son, Nicholas, who is 7 years old.

Nicholas is autistic, with Level 2 support needs for social communication and restricted, repetitive behaviour, as well as ADHD. As his dad, I’ve seen the challenges he faces, but I’ve also seen his strengths, his personality and the things that make him uniquely him.

I want Nicholas to grow up in a world where he is understood, supported and given every opportunity to thrive. A world where being autistic doesn’t mean having to fight harder than everyone else to access the support he needs.

That’s why I’m running.

70 km in October, for Nicholas and for a more inclusive world.

Your donation will help support early diagnosis, autism-specific education and critical research into mental health issues experienced by Autistic people, helping them access the support they need to realise their different brilliant®.

Every kilometre I complete will be a reminder of why I’m doing this. And every donation, no matter how big or small, will help keep me moving towards something that matters deeply to me.
