35km. One Cause. So Many Reasons
In October, I’ll be running 35km for autism awareness.
I’m doing it for my boy, Luke.
For my nephew.
And for every child who sees, feels, communicates and experiences the world a little differently.
Since autism became part of our world, I’ve learnt that awareness is only the beginning. We need understanding. Acceptance. Support. Patience. And a world that makes space for our kids to be exactly who they are.
I’m running for the parents who advocate every single day.
For the kids who work twice as hard just to feel like they belong.
For the families navigating appointments, therapies, schools, sensory overloads, big emotions and all the things people don’t always see.
And most of all, I’m running for the kids.
For my boy.
For my nephew.
For all the beautiful, funny, incredible neurodivergent kids who deserve to be understood, included and celebrated — not changed.
35km might be a challenge for me.
But if every kilometre helps create a little more awareness, a little more understanding and a little more acceptance, then it’s worth every step.
35km. For our kids. 💙
