I’m joining the movement to Run for Autism. But I need your help.
Why am I taking on 35km this October? Because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges, and that statistic feels personal to me.
I’m autistic, and I know how much energy it can take to get through everyday life when the world isn’t built with your needs in mind. I’ve also been dealing with extended burnout, chronic pain and recovery from a broken leg. Movement and community have helped me through difficult periods, so this challenge means more to me than reaching a distance goal.
I’m taking part in Run for Autism to support a future where Autistic Australians can get the understanding and support they need to thrive. Donations will help fund early diagnosis, autism-specific education and research into mental health challenges experienced by Autistic people.
If you’re able to donate, I’d be grateful. Your support will also give me a reason to keep logging the kilometres throughout October, one at a time.
Thank you,
Tom
