Why I’m running 140km this October 💙
This October, I’m taking on the 140km Run for Autism challenge for a reason that is incredibly close to my heart — our beautiful son is autistic.
I’m running for him. I’m running to raise awareness, encourage greater understanding and help create a world where Autistic people are accepted, supported and celebrated for exactly who they are.
I want our son to grow up knowing that being autistic is not something that makes him less than. I want him to feel understood, valued and completely comfortable being himself — and to know that his differences are part of what makes him wonderfully, uniquely him. 💙
I’m also running because 70% of Autistic people face mental health challenges, and there is still so much more that needs to be understood and done to ensure Autistic people can access the right support throughout their lives.
By supporting my fundraiser, you’ll help provide early diagnosis, autism-specific education and critical research into the mental health issues experienced by Autistic people, helping them access the support they need to thrive and realise their different brilliant®.
Every kilometre I run throughout October will be a little reminder of why I’m doing this. It will be 140km of sore legs, early mornings, determination and probably a few moments where I question why I signed up 😂 — but knowing it is for something that means so much to our family will keep me going.
If you’re able to share or donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Your support will help me reach my goal and, more importantly, contribute to a more inclusive world where every Autistic person has the opportunity to thrive.
For our son. For greater understanding. For acceptance. For a world where everyone gets to be exactly who they are. 💙
Thank you for supporting me and my 140km journey this October! 🏃♀️💙
